Fishing Report- February 3-10th, 2018

Greetings Peacock Fans and welcome back to the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report!  This week’s report covers the week of February 3rd-10th and there is a lot to report.  As we have mentioned in our report over the years we are thrilled to have so many loyal customers that have visited us frequently here at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge.  Lane Hepworth, Clint Dille and David Wilkes are a trio of anglers that have been

here a lot and we were excited to see they were coming back.  Over the years Lane has been working on convincing his brother to make the trip down here to join his group and finally John Hepworth signed up to spend a week at the lodge.  But after all that, sadly Lane had to rain-check and was not able to join his brother and the group last week.  Sorry you couldn’t make it Lane, but we look forward to seeing you in March.  Enjoy a shot of Agua Boa newbie, and some would say the better-looking brother, John Hepworth with a nice Peacock. At the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge, we love parties and special events.  Last week we were excited to be able to host a Super Bowl bash, featuring our first annual Super Bowl Square Pool that Andy Jenkins and Kevin Despain cleaned up on.  Kevin wasn’t the only DeSpain to be on the winning side of a party here at the lodge last week.  Nicole Despain was lucky enough to celebrate a birthday Agua Boa style.  It was brought to our attention that Nicole loves gluten free pizza, so Dalva and Jonathan our chef and chef’s assistant were

able to deliver.  Enjoy a shot of legendary Agua Boa waiter Johnny Gazon serving Nicole’s birthday surprise! Also check out Nicole showing off one of the Agua Boa River resident Tucanare Paca-Acu! Last week’s fishing continued to be great. We are still catching large fish and good numbers of fish over all.  The river has continued to drop after receiving zero precipitation throughout last week. Fortunately, the rivers decrease in flow has been slow and we only lost a few inches over that time period.  As reported in previous installments of the world-famous, Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report, despite the continuing drop in water level we are still able to access our favorite sections of the river, lagoons and lakes.

Looking to the next couple of weeks it appears as if there will be a continuation of the dry spell.  However, the consistent breeze and lack of clouds has made it more comfortable on the water and provides good light for sight fishing! Due to the consistent conditions on the Agua Boa River there is not much of a fluctuation in lines and tackle at this point in the season.  For your starting line up (get it, line up) we recommend an intermediate clear-tip on either an 8 or 9 weight rod.  We continue to use baitfish patterns, half and half’s and whistlers in a variety of contrasting colors: red/white, blue/white, chartreuse/white and pink/white.  Also, we still recommend a leader material that is in the .022-.027 inch range in diameter.   Thank you again, one and all, for coming to the lodge and enjoying all that we have to offer, fishing, food and fun!  And thank you to our loyal peacock fans for continuing to follow the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report! Fish On! Carlos and Charlie
