Fishing Report- January 2nd-9th, 2016

Happy New Year from the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge and thanks for checking our first fishing report of 2016!  Last week we were lucky enough to host a group of friends and family here at the lodge.  There were lots of highlights on and off the river.  As always we had our standard array of big fish encounters but we also had some of the wildlife encounters that can only occur in a place as wild and remote as the Agua Boa.

Veteran Angler Paul Lavins delivered on one of the many epic photos taken last week when he was able get a shot of a Green Anaconda using its full force to squeeze the life out of a Cayman.  That is not all that Paul was able to deliver last week, he also was able to land the largest Arowana of his career as well.  Speaking of his career, we would like to congratulate Paul who owns the Lodge Record for the most weeks visiting as a guest at the Agua Boa Amazon LodgeCongratulations Paul, see you next year.

Despite the ultra-low water levels the Agua Boa still impressed last week’s group with its variety in species, huge peacocks and jumping Arowana. For first time Agua Boa anglers Tom and Katie Olivo, persistence paid off when they were able to land four brut Peacocks over ten pounds in one day while sight fishing the river.   Enjoy a shot of Tom and Katie with an 18 lb Peacock.  To see more of Tom’s shots check out his website at

Sharing the great environment and fishery of the Agua Boa is always the best part of working here at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge.  So naturally it was that much more special to share it with family members.  Special thanks to father daughter team Doyt and Valerie Conn for making it to the lodge to enjoy a weeks fishing.  Check out a shot of Valerie with a monster peacock.

Thank you for checking the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report and we look forward to seeing you here at the Lodge!   Fish On!   Carlos and Charlie
