Red Tailed Catfish

This may be due to the fact our flies  do not smell. The fish depicted in the two lower  illustrations was caught by accident on a ten weight rod using a size 12  nymph hook whilst fishing for piranha.

There are other catfish species in  the main river and  in the lakes and lagoons but most are of no fly fishing consequence.

The Bearded Catfish depicted here was yet another fish caught by accident when fishing for other species.
