Cichla orinocensisAs its name suggests this species is common to the Orinoco River in Venezuela, it is also found in the Rio Negro and some of its tributaries. The Rio Orinoco and Rio Negro waters co-join during the rainy season.
All examples I have seen depicted in various publications look very similar to C. ocellaris having the same eye spots along the body with far less colour.
The fish depicted was caught in a small lagoon on the Agua Boa it is the only example of this species I have caught over the many times I have fished the Agua Boa.
